Develop Your Tribe
Take a look at your day. Take a look at your business. And maybe even take a look at your life. Then ask yourself a simple question: Who am I surrounding myself with? Who are the people I’m pursuing? Who are the people I’m listening to? Who are the people I’m depending on? And most importantly, are those people helping me move in the direction I want to go, or are they quietly holding me back? That question starts with awareness. You have to know where you are, but you also have to be clear about where you want to go. As a real estate professional, especially if you operate independently, it’s easy to think of yourself as a one-person business. But you’re not. You already have a team. You have lenders, title representatives, escrow professionals, inspectors, contractors, coaches, brokers, and other professionals who help you serve your clients. And your clients themselves are part of that collaborative environment. The shift happens when you stop seeing yourself only as an individual contributor and start seeing yourself as the leader of a team. Your job becomes less about carrying everything yourself and more about helping people achieve their goals. If you’re a buyer’s agent and your goal is 25 or 30 transactions this year, then you need people in your world who want to buy homes. You have to find them, identify them, understand what they want, and help them move forward. They aren’t simply names in a database. They are part of the ecosystem that makes your business work. Real estate is collaboration. You stand at the point between decision and indecision. You may be standing between someone continuing to dream about a home and actually owning it. You may be standing between a seller feeling stuck and finally moving into the next chapter of their life. Yes, you owe your clients all the duties and responsibilities of professional agency. But underneath all of that is something even simpler. When you help other people get what they want, you create the opportunity to get what you want. So define your goals clearly. Look at the people around you. Build your team intentionally. Pursue the right relationships. Help more people win. Because success is rarely something you accomplish alone. Success is something you build together.
